France’s Domaine Des Etangs Unveils New Experiences

Domaine Des Etangs, Auberge Resorts Collection, the 13th-century chateau set on 2,500 forested acres in the Charente region in Southwest France, is offering a range of experiences for spring and summer. Alongside exploring the French countryside, families, friends and couples can look forward to special events, culinary and wellness offerings, art and more.

As the 2024 Olympics head to Paris, Domaine des Etangs welcomes guests to celebrate a “Summer of Sport” (July 15 to August 20), from tennis with a pro on the floating courts to curated lawn games and cycling tours. From traversing the Domaine’s expansive trails on horseback to a curated children’s day camp with its very own awards ceremony, guests of all ages are invited to play along at Domaine to celebrate the Olympics.

Guests can celebrate the harvest season with “Grapes & Grandeur” (September 20 to October 6), enjoying exclusive access to the cellar masters of Cognac and winemakers of Bordeaux. In Cognac, they will get a glimpse into the harvest process and visits to family-run vintners, such as Bourgoin, to premier players such as Hennessy. Guests can also savor a range of dishes at Dyades restaurant, where dishes are crafted using produce sourced from the on-site certified organic farm. Other experiences include a private caviar tasting, visiting a harvesting workshop with a local producer and setting out on a hunt for the infamous black gold truffle with a local farming family.

The hotel’s Honour Bar features Bourgoin Cognac, from a local family-run vineyard, which guests can visit for a custom blending experience. Additionally, sunset cocktails and wines from nearby Bordeaux are paired with live music at Bar Etoile in the 13th-century castle.

At the spa, seasonally inspired spa treatments in suites named after the elements—Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Ether—are available. Guests can step into the Gallo-Roman-inspired thermal baths, adhering to an ancient Roman schedule that transitions from hot to warm to cool, optimizing the benefits of water-based therapies.
